The 2nd Annual Louisiana Pelican Classic was held April 20th thru 22nd, 2007 at The Wetlands Golf Course in Lafayette. The 2007 event was won by Janell Howland of Boise, ID. She shot an amazing eleven-under-par to earn her first professional career win.
Janell Howland finished the 2006 season with five top ten finishes of her 19 tournament starts. She was ranked 9th overall for the 2007 season collecting $31,432.
Song Hee Kim (-3)
The 1st Annual Louisiana Pelican Classic was held April 7th thru 9th, 2006 at The Wetlands Golf Course in Lafayette. The 2006 event was won by Song-Hee Kim of Seoul, Korea. At the age of 17, Song-Hee Kim became the youngest woman ever to win a professional golf tournament in the United States. She shot an amazing three-under-par despite adverse weather conditions to earn her first professional career win.
Kim went on to dominate the rest of the 2006 season with five first place victories of her 18 tournament starts with 11 top 10 finishes. She was 2006's leading money winner with $76,287. Song-Hee has been awarded fully exempt status on the 2007 LPGA Tour and moves on as one of the most accomplished players to have ever passed through the Duramed FUTURES Tour.
